Is it possible to set up a series of tabs in both the left and right windows and then save the set under a group name so the layout can be instantly recalled (perhaps using a button) with each tab either locked or not, as originally saved? In this way I could save groups of tabs for (for example) a project, a client or even groups of downloads.

Thanks for a quick response. This is a feature I would use a lot, particularly for repetitive setting up of groups of tabs eg for projects, client papers etc. so I am very keen to see if you are willing to add it to the list of future developments.

I notice that DC already saves this information on closing (in the doublecmd.ini file) and recalls it on re-start, so most of the mechanisms to make this happen appear to be in place. Would you be willing to implement it when you can fit it in please?

Many thanks

I agree this would be a very useful feature. Using Version 0.5.5 alpha I see this information stored in an XML file. So in theory is seems these settings could be stored and recalled there somehow. Have yet to experiement with it.

Just curious though

* Has saving TABs been added as a feature yet?
* Would backing up the doublecmd.xml file be an effective way
of backing up sessions and then perhaps recalling them from
a script?

It is not implemented.
You can create different directories with configurations, with each doublecmd.xml containing different sets of tabs. Then start DC with "--config-dir" option to point to your desired set.

Thanks for the suggestion.

In windows 7 I'm attempting to do the following, in order to access a different set of configuration files...

C:\doublecmd\doublecmd.exe --config-dir C:\doublecmd\myfolder

It is not working, I've also tried

C:\doublecmd\doublecmd.exe --config-dir "C:\doublecmd\myfolder"

Is there something wrong with my syntax?

To answer my own question an equals sign needs be after --config-dir

For example.

C:\doublecmd\doublecmd.exe --config-dir=C:\doublecmd\myfolder
